Bio for Peter Luongo:
For over 30 years as director of the acclaimed Langley Ukulele Ensemble, Peter taught a comprehensive music education package which incorporated the ukulele as the tool through which students were taught the intricacies of melody, harmony, music theory, playing by ear, reading music and Choral singing. Under his tutelage, the Langley Ensemble became internationally renowned and received invitations to perform across Canada, throughout the United States, Japan, and for 25 years have performed annually at the Sheraton Waikiki Resort.
Peter Luongo worked as an educator and ukulele teacher in the small community of Langley, B.C. (just east of Vancouver) for 35 years. In 2008, his work was featured as a focal point in the award-winning documentary film, The Mighty Uke. Now his love of teaching and creating music with the ukulele is being shared with adults all over the world.
Peter leads The Luongo Ukulele Experience, a performance-based adult ukulele group that tours in America and has performed at the Palm Springs, Reno, and Hawaii International Ukulele Festivals, and at the 2019 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. He has developed a 4-session series offering The Maximum Ukulele Experience (www.maxuke.com). He continues to travel internationally as a workshop presenter at festivals throughout North America and Europe.
